Someone like you.....

I heard this tonight on the radio for the first time, and it just stopped me in my train of thought and gave me goose bumps.
The lyrics just trickled over me as they told me a story very much like one I know all too well.

'Yesterday was the time of our lives.......'

Camden

My brother and I went for a little day trip to Camden yesterday to see what bargains we could grab ourselves. We had a good day on the bargain front. With my brother finding a long leather coat for only £5 and a new satchel bag that the strange Thai lady insisted he tried on many times. I got myself a vintage kilt for only £5 too, plus other lovely pretty things too like a Swallow belt buckle and an Indian beaded necklace.

Top to toe finds

Over the last few days being off work has given me the chance to have a bit of a rummage in my local charity shops and I got myself a few pretty things.

I found the snake skin style hand bag the other day and it suddenly occurred to me that I did not own a nice brown handbag so it had to be mine, and in the same shop I also fell in love with a little black fur hat from 1950's Belgium.

Today, I went for a little wander around another shop with my Mum, and found this lovely pair of black pixie boots which I just spent some time polishing up, and a cute little head scarf, not that I don't already own millions, but enough is never enough with scarves and me.

All together with the right dress and coat, they will look really nice. Couldn't have planned it better if I had tried.

I would do a post on what I wore over the last few days, but the weather has been a bit rubbish of late, and so my coat and scarves cover all. However I am going to London tomorrow with my brother, so will let you know what wonderful things I find.

To my surppreeze

Whilst waiting for my photos to be developed yesterday, I decided to see if I could find somewhere to get my nails done. Unsuccesful, I resorted to buying some to do myself.
I chose some rediculously cheap nails at for £2 for 20 with the intention of painting over them once I had reshaped them from long square talons, to oval nice length nails, but to my surppreeze (Can you tell I've been watching Lemony Snicket lol) they actually look really quiet nice for bargin nails.

Not bad hey? My Dad even thought they we're my real nails and was shocked, as it is only recently I have stopped biting them, and so growing them if proving hard work.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend

My loves for this week

* Twiggy - I have recently discovered I have shoulders and collar bones now my hair is all gone, and feel very twiggy-esque when I notice them * Knee high socks - Some spring weather seems to be on it's way, and this means I can once more wear shorts and socks with boots without looking, or indeed being, cold * Carpet bags - I have a love for them, maybe this is why I can be counted on to have everything in my bag, a true Mary Poppins * Ed Van Der Elskin - I adore his photography, he is by far my most loved, but this photograph just captures me, it's so beautifully vulnerable * Daffodils - I know it's early still, but the fact that I can see them in the shops just makes me feel happy, I'd rather them than roses any day.

Dungarees

I thought I'd cringe at the idea of ever wearing dungarees beyond childhood,  but to my amazment I am rather excited at owning a pair of dungaree shorts again.

I bought them a few weeks ago in the final dregs of the Topshop sale, hidden on the floor under the sale rail as I was walking out, and amazingly they fit me.

Can't wait until summer to splash about on the beach in them, but for now I may just attempt to pull them off with thick tights, woolly jumper and boots.

The pair I'm really jelaous of mind you, are Marina, of Marina and the Diamonds' mickey mouse dungarees. I saw her wearing them on tv not long ago, with yellow high heels, and it was instant jealousy, but I do love a bit of wacky fashion.

Oh how I want them..... ♥

What I did & wore today

Today I ventured into town in search of a pair of tapered chinos, because I am getting way ahead of myself by beginning to feel like spring is on it's way. After trying on about 20 different pairs, in many different styles, and discovering that most places don't believe anyone can be a size 6 and have long legs at the same time, I found the perfect pair in H&M. I also ended up with some good little bargains. I found some purple suede high heels for £7 in the final sale in a little boutique. A black sheer shirt from New Look tall range, not quite like the type I'm after, because it has a pussy bow and hearts on it, but is pretty non the less, and a pair of big black flowery earrings for £2.50 from Topshop. Since I have had my pixie hair cut, which is only 3 weeks old and I am in love with, I have a new found love for big earrings, how very 70's of me....

The weather was not amazing today, in fact it rained, so as much as my pretty dresses were calling me, I felt I should wrap up warm, especially as I have come down with laryngitis this week :(

Black maxi skirt - H&M
Stripey cropped jumper - Primark
Brogue boots - River Island
Beads - from jumble sale
Earrings - Topshop

And yes, I did wear a coat and scarf, my aviator to be precised, it kept me so warm it was almost too warm.
